While most scanners will allow you to save a document for emailing
purposes, you may want to be aware of NLM's free Docmorph option for
converting documents to pdf if you don't have Acrobat Professional
software. See http://docmorph.nlm.nih.gov/docmorph/

I am looking for advice on how to go about getting the proper scanner.
Our institution does not have Ariel. One of our new physicians would
like his articles sent via e-mail rather than fax or paper. Are there
any suggestions on what type of scanner this would be? Company names?
Also, do you then need special software to convert the article into a
PDF form?
