[ILL-L] Loaning out DVDs for copying lost or damaged parts of
compilations

Hello,
I have a policy question regarding copyright compliance issues. If I have a DVD copy of Roots or any other compilation (complete season of Sex and the City) and ONE of the DVDs becomes lost or damaged, I am allowed under copyright law to borrow a copy from another library and make a replacement copy.
If I sent out an ILL request, and indicated this need on the form, or by emailing the lender first, would you supply it?
One more policy question: does anyone out there have a policy to create back up DVDs for ALL newly purchased items? If so, which copy is the circulating copy?
All of your comments will be useful and appreciated.
Thanks for all your collective expertise.
Debra Lucas
