Searching in Request Manager

The best way to search the Request Manager for author, title, or patron name is to use truncated searching with an asterisk (*).

Searching without an asterisk has become ridiculous. If the title in the request reads like this:
" The end of the world / " , you have to type in " The end of the world / " exactly to find the title. With nonfiling articles, slash, and everything. But if you type in " *end of the world* ", it will come up just fine (mostly).
(Not sure why the / is now showing up at the end of titles in requests...)

I agree that the change to having lists sorted by ILL # instead of by referral date or notification date is not helpful at all. I sent OCLC my comments about why it's more helpful to sort by date, and asked for them to give us the option to sort lists of records by our desired criteria. That way, we could all be happy no matter how we like our lists sorted. They replied that they would consider it if it fell within their development parameters, or something.

My plea to the list is this - send OCLC your comments! Use the "comments" link in WRS to notify them of changes that you find detrimental to your workflow, and make suggestions about how they could make the software work better for you. They really do listen, and if enough of us speak up, they will know how important these issues are to us. As far as I know, OCLC does keep an eye on ILL-L, but sending them your input directly will make sure that your comments are officially logged & referred to the proper staff.

Is it just me, or are others having troubles searching in Request Manager since the most recent update a week or so ago? I can have a request in front of me, so I know it exists... and searching either by author or by title will bring up nothing. Of course if I know the ILL # (excuse me.... Request Identifier), I can bring it up. I also am able to find things by searching by Patron Name, probably because our patron names are all four-letter codes for our member libraries. Another pet peeve, however, is that they changed the order of the requests within the Patron Name search, so that they're now in order by ILL #...... if I knew the ILL #, I wouldn't be searching by patron name!!!! Some of our libraries have 100+ requests out there (actually some are over 200), & I used to be able to pull up their list by their "patron" name & then look at the alphabetical-by-author list to see if I could find what I was looking for..... now I just have to scan the list of 100 or 200+, hoping to spot a title..... To me, it would be better, if they wanted to eliminate the author field, to sort them by title.....
O.k.... one last rant about searching in Request Manager..... when I search by Lending Library, I now get a list that not only includes when a particular library IS the lender, but also, any records where they came before the actual lender in the string..... what's up with that??
Who else is glad it's Friday!!!
